Item 8.01 Other Events.

 

On an April 27, 2005 conference call with financial analysts and investors, Verizon Communications Inc. discussed its first quarter 2005 results and provided an update on its fiber to the premises (FTTP) deployment strategy. Verizon indicated that its overall wireline headcount of approximately 142,000 includes approximately 7,500 dedicated for FTTP, and it is targeting wireline headcount of approximately 143,000 for year-end.
