On February 3, 2011, Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Universal Insurance Holdings, Inc., received approval of a rate increase for its homeowners’ insurance program within the State of Florida. The rate increase, which will result in an average premium increase of approximately 14.9 percent statewide, was approved by the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation. The effective dates for the rate increase are February 7, 2011 for new business and March 28, 2011 for renewal business.
