American Israeli Paper Mills Ltd.
Subject to Potential Investigation
Hadera, Israel, November 02, 2006 — In response to the publications in Israeli press, American Israeli Paper Mills Ltd. (ASE:AIP) (the “Company” or “AIPM”), announced that the Haifa district manager of the Ministry of Environmental Protection notified the company that, according to the ministry opinion, there are deviations from air quality standards of the Hadera plant, and that an investigation of the matter may be required. Nonetheless, the district manager pointed that the plant had invested a great deal in the improvement of sewage and in other matters of quality of the environment.
The Company pointed out that it has been investing tens of millions of shekels to promote the conversion of the plant from fuel oil to natural gas as customary in the western world, but delays that are out of the Company’s control, causes the postponement of the conversion that was supposed to be completed by now.
