From Corporate America to the Streets: Jack Liang Sparks the Largest Asian-American Protest 'Rally Against Hate

NEW YORK, NY / ACCESSWIRE / December 7, 2022 / Experience is not only the best teacher but also the best fuel for change. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, to Chinese immigrant parents, Jack Liang experienced harsh discrimination and violence simply for being Asian. He was eager to find ways to fit in and feel like he truly belonged, but eventually, he realized that the very difference separating him from others was also his biggest strength. Having lived through the nightmare, Jack now spearheads one of the country's biggest anti-racism movements. Jack is the Asian-American entrepreneur and activist behind the largest-ever recorded Asian-American rally, Rally Against Hate.

Before finding his way as an activist, Jack held many roles. He is no stranger to working, having done so for most of his life, starting from when he was only ten years old when he shoveled snow in the winter and handed out car service cards. In high school, he worked as a courier for American Clerical Service and a sales associate for Aldo Shoes. Later, he became a basketball player, following his passion for the sport that saved him for most of his childhood until he suffered a severe knee injury. From then on, he focused on his studies. He enrolled at Borough of Manhattan Community College, which led him to the opportunity to study at New York University, where he obtained his degree in Engineering in 2014.

After graduation, Jack made his way to corporate America. He has worked in sales and marketing for various companies, including Allrecipes.com, Vitamin Water, and Goldman Sachs. He also went into modeling, from getting featured on Men's Health to shooting with Victoria's Secret Angel Adriana Lima, walking the runways of Versace and YSL, and doing campaigns for Moncler, Reebok, and many other big brands. His advertising skills eventually perfumed his name across the industry and caught the attention of Instagram's SMB product team. From there, he worked for Instagram and was a Startup Advisor for Facebook.

But all the while, Jack had this sense of having a higher purpose than being in the corporate world. He found that calling to vindicate and empower the Asian-American community. At the height of the pandemic in 2021, he began organizing marches, events, and speaking engagements in schools and organizations to raise awareness about hate crimes committed against Asians. When COVID-19 broke loose worldwide, Asians, mainly Chinese, were discriminated against and even blamed. Jack's effort has fostered a sense of community and camaraderie among Asian Americans during difficult times.

With his expertise in marketing and promotions, he staged the largest-ever Asian-American rally, the Rally Against Hate, in Columbus Park, NY, on March 16th, 2022, welcoming over 10,000 people. Sparking the action, Jack impacted the Asian-American community and amplified the message of equality among everyone.

Following the success of Rally Against Hate in Columbus Park, Jack organized another takeover in Times Square with hundreds marching on Broadway, including pop superstar Rihanna. In addition, the event lit up Times Square's billboards with messages shouting 'Stop Asian Hate' to the rest of the world.

Jack's fire to ignite change did not stop with Rally Against Hate. It continued in his other organized rallies, including Voting for Justice, Stop the Mega Jail, Save Afghan Lives, and more. But his journey wasn't always smooth sailing. Rallies are not always seen in the best light, and on April 2022, Jack was aerated for protesting the world's tallest mega jail to be constructed in Chinatown, NY, when he and the "Chinatown 10" kneeled in front of bulldozers to communicate the community's sentiment against the multi-billion dollar project and its irreversible damage in one of the most diverse and well-loved portions of the Big Apple.

In addition, Jack is practicing activism in the digital space. Partnering with former presidential candidate Andrew Yang and his friend Theodore Lu, he launched the first social activism DAO, as dubbed by Coindesk, called GoldenDAO, a project that uses web3 technology for social good.

Be it igniting his passion in the streets, in boardrooms, or online, Jack is determined to empower people to fight against everything that discriminates against them, holds them from maximizing their human rights, fights injustice, and becomes the voice of the voiceless. A maverick with a heart, Jack is truly a force to reckon with.
