Gold prices surge 2.5% to kick off new year, move above key level at $1,900

Futures for gold on Monday are over 2% higher to start trade in 2021, after putting in the best annual return in a decade, with the move for bullion coming as the dollar sinks to around a 2 1/2-year nadir.
