BOSTON - August 3, 2021 - (Newswire.com)
Shepley Bulfinch, a national architecture firm with offices in Boston, Hartford, Houston and Phoenix, announced today the renovation of the University of Illinois' Undergraduate Library in partnership with Champaign-based RATIO Architects. The renovation will create a dedicated home for the preservation and use of the library's rare and archival collections including University Archives, Illinois History and Lincoln Collections, and Rare Book & Manuscript Library.
Shepley Bulfinch and RATIO Architects will transform the University's current Undergraduate Library, a 98,000 sf, mid-20th century structure, to create a place where students, faculty and the public can utilize historical collections to enrich contemporary scholarship, foster engagement and inspire emerging voices of the future.
Project design work is underway, with construction slated to be completed in 2024.
