Boingo Wireless Honored with Marine Corps Community Services Moments of Excellence Award

Company Recognized for Successfully Deploying First-Ever Commercial Internet Service at Remote Training Center in Okinawa, Japan

Boingo Wireless, a leading distributed antenna system (DAS), Wi-Fi and private network provider, today announced it was presented with the 2021 Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) Moments of Excellence Award for bringing commercial-grade, high-speed internet service to the jungle warfare training center at Camp Gonsalves in Okinawa, Japan. The rural base environment presented massive challenges in delivering wireless connectivity, but Boingo’s expert engineering team solved these complexities by designing and launching a sophisticated broadband solution. The successful deployment ensures fast, secure internet service to power troops’ essential connectivity needs.

“Boingo’s high-speed broadband enhances the quality of life for marines in this remote jungle area by incalculable measure,” said Jeffrey C. Hazelbaker, chief information officer at MCCS Okinawa Japan. “The company’s ability to innovate and successfully bring reliable commercial internet access to the camp has completely transformed our communication infrastructure and daily life. We thank Boingo for its support, dedication and commitment to our marines.”
