Inframark Selected by the Bridgeport, CT Water Pollution Control Authority to Continue as Wastewater Treatment Facilities Operator

By: PRLog

HORSHAM, Pa. - Jan. 19, 2024 - PRLog -- Inframark, a leader in infrastructure solutions focused on water and wastewater contract operations and maintenance across the U.S., is pleased to announce its continued partnership with the city of Bridgeport's Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA). The WPCA Board recently voted to approve a 10-year agreement with Inframark to run the day-to-day operations of the WPCA's wastewater treatment facilities. Inframark, which has been the WPCA's third-party operator for the last decade, was awarded the contract after an extensive bidding process.

Inframark Chief Executive Officer Steve Meininger commented, "Our team values the true partnership we've created with the city of Bridgeport and its residents. Throughout our partnership, Inframark has remained flexible and responsive to the evolving needs and requirements of the Bridgeport systems. We are committed to supporting WPCA's financial objectives while maintaining reliable and high-quality operation and maintenance services as a trusted partner. Thanks to our team's dedication, creativity, and industry-leading expertise – coupled with the meaningful collaboration of the WPCA – we've achieved an agreement that will enable the WPCA's wastewater treatment facilities to be run efficiently and in an environmentally sustainable way for years to come."

This partnership also allows Inframark to mobilize its Automation and Intelligence (A&I) capabilities, through its nearly 200-person team, leveraging machine learning-enabled technology designed to improve plant efficiencies and generate cost savings. Meininger added, "We're bringing our cutting-edge A&I solutions to bear at Bridgeport, including ongoing pilots, which are currently underway. We look forward to the initial findings and the opportunity to discover how we can help optimize operations, enhance productivity, and enable fact-based, informed decision-making to create lasting value."

Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim commented on the new operating agreement, "This agreement is truly a 'win-win' situation for the city, its residents, and the environment." The Mayor and General Manager discussed the agreement during a Facebook Live event on December 27, which can be found here.

General Manager Lauren McBennett Mappa stated, "This agreement and the associated savings come at a good time for the WPCA, as the WPCA has been mandated to significantly modify and expand its two wastewater treatment plants to comply with new environmental standards."

"The Inframark team is honored to be trusted by Bridgeport's WPCA and continue as their partner. Over the last 10 years, as the operator of these facilities, we have worked as a true partner with the Bridgeport team, and we've become engrained in the Bridgeport community. With this new agreement, we are well-positioned and excited to continue our work at the wastewater facilities and to help the city meet the required operations mandates while going through significant facility upgrades. We are also eager to deepen support of the residents of Bridgeport by investing back in the community through various programs," stated Rick Lavoie, Inframark's Senior Project Director for the Bridgeport facilities.
