Alice Smith School, the first British international school in Kuala Lumpur, has been providing an outstanding education for students aged 3 to 18 years old since its founding in 1946. The school’s rich history of innovation, coupled with its exceptional quality of learning and teaching, has earned it a global reputation as a leading international school community in Kuala Lumpur.
History and Founder
The school was founded by Alice Fairfield-Smith, a biology graduate from Harvard University and an experienced teacher, who established the first British international school in Malaysia in her home in Jalan Eaton in 1946. Today, the Alice Smith School is still owned by the Alice Smith Schools Association (ASSA), a not-for-profit educational foundation registered in Malaysia. The school has continued to innovate throughout its history, innovating in its learning spaces and teaching, but most importantly, innovating for its students’ success.
Exceptional Education
At Alice Smith School, students are at the heart of everything they do. The school’s commitment to academic excellence, achieved through a rich and challenging curriculum, and nurturing the personal growth and development of every child in all aspects of their learning, has produced outstanding results year on year. The school’s students consistently attain the highest levels in external examinations and are successful at gaining places at the best universities in the world.
The school’s early years programme focuses on creating a fun, safe, and engaging learning environment for children to build a solid foundation for their education. The primary school curriculum is comprehensive and engaging, providing globally relevant thematic units of work with specific learner attributes that create successful, lifelong learners. In the secondary school, students are encouraged to develop a critical, analytical mind, helping them sharpen their leadership skills and prepare for further education. The school’s innovative approach to a British curriculum stimulates higher-level thinking skills, including creativity, problem-solving, and highly effective communication.
Personalized Learning
The school provides a personalized learning experience for its Sixth Form students, which has seen incredible results. In 2022, the Sixth Form cohort achieved a 100% pass rate, with 34% of all grades at A* and 86% A* - B. Not-for-Profit
As a not-for-profit educational foundation, all of the revenue from school fees is invested in the future of the children and maintaining and developing the quality of the school’s educational offering, facilities, and resources.
