Liuyu Town: A New Chapter in Circular Ecological Agriculture

Recently, the successful implementation of the circular farming model at Qingyuan Farm in Yongsheng Village, Liuyu Town, Pingyi County, has attracted widespread attention in the industry. According to Wang Xinhao, the person in charge of the farm, they have developed a new model of ecological circular agriculture by combining high-quality sticky corn cultivation with ecological free-range chicken farming, taking into full consideration the local climate and soil conditions.

Qingyuan Farm is located in a picturesque area where the town and village converge, providing a vast platform for the development of ecological agriculture with its unique natural resources and ecological advantages. Wang Xinhao introduced that he has planted large areas of sticky corn on the farm, which is highly favored in the market for its unique taste and nutritional value. During the cultivation process, the farm also focuses on selecting high-quality varieties and adopting scientific cultivation techniques to ensure the yield and quality of the corn. In order to make full use of land resources, the farm adopts a zoned planting approach, utilizing the differences in maturity time of different corn varieties to achieve efficient land use.

In the corn fields, free-range chickens are allowed to roam freely, effectively controlling weed growth and suppressing pests. At the same time, the natural fermentation of chicken manure provides abundant nutrients for the soil. This circular ecological farming model not only reduces breeding costs but also improves soil fertility and crop yields. The farm promotes its specialty free-range chickens and eggs through community group purchases and live-streaming e-commerce, with pre-orders sold at a price of 3 yuan per piece. They have gained recognition from customers, and in 2023, the farm’s self-operated online and offline sales exceeded 2.1 million.

“In the process of free-range chicken farming, the farm strictly controls the stocking density to ensure that each chicken has sufficient space for activity and food sources,” Wang Xinhao told reporters. The farm also strengthens epidemic prevention work, regularly conducting health checks on the chicken flocks to ensure the quality and safety of the free-range chickens.

With the increasing demand for healthy and environmentally friendly food from consumers, the ecological farming model has broader market prospects, promoting diversified development of the rural economy and providing more employment opportunities and income channels for farmers. Li Yindong, an agricultural expert in Liuyu Town, stated that they will continue to increase support for circular ecological agriculture, encouraging more farmers to participate and jointly promote sustainable agricultural development.

The circular ecological farming model at Qingyuan Farm not only protects the ecological environment but also increases the added value of crops, thereby enhancing competitiveness. Wang Xinhao stated that the farm plans to further expand the planting area and breeding scale in the second half of this year, introduce more high-quality varieties and advanced technologies, create an ecological agriculture complex integrating planting, breeding, and tourism, actively seek cooperation with surrounding enterprises and institutions, and jointly promote the sustainable development of circular ecological agriculture.
