CareAllies’ ACO Clients Demonstrate Exceptional Performance in 2020

All nine ACO provider organizations supported by CareAllies demonstrated their value through these 2020 achievements

CareAllies, a Cigna company that collaborates with health care organizations to accelerate their transition to value-based care, today announced that all nine accountable care organizations (ACOs) it works with achieved Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) scores of 85 or higher, placing them in the exceptional performance category.

These ACO clients include both hospital and physician-led organizations caring for 160,000 Medicare beneficiaries throughout the country. These organizations were able to achieve successful MIPS scores for the second year in a row through their ongoing partnership with CareAllies, which entails value-based strategy and implementation. Specifically, the physician-led ACOs were able to elevate their scores through a set of comprehensive services CareAllies provides. CareAllies helped these organizations zero in on three key areas:

  • Scheduling annual wellness visits for patients early in the year
  • Reporting accurate risk by fully capturing the patient population’s demographics, health conditions and health spending patterns
  • Ensuring appropriate utilization of home health and nursing facilities throughout the pandemic.

“Value-based care is proving to be the future of health care, as it consistently improves patient health outcomes. This remains a top priority for our ACOs, as demonstrated by their exceptional performances,” said Rob Cetti, CareAllies president. “These results underscore that the long-term strategies CareAllies helps ACOs implement to better engage with and care for patients do help save money and make a difference in patients’ lives.”

In addition to their exceptional MIPS performance scores, these ACOs earned a combined total savings for Medicare of more than $43 million in 2020, collectively receiving nearly $22 million in shared savings and further demonstrating their successful year.
