Five Leaders in Respective Fields to be Inducted During Annual Hall of Fame Gala Set for June 21 in San Francisco
Comprising a group of leaders who have served the business interests and homebuilding industry in California for decades, the California Homebuilding Foundation today announced its 2022 Hall of Fame Inductees.
Since 1985, the California Homebuilding Foundation has annually honored outstanding individuals who exemplify leadership, innovation, and philanthropy in the homebuilding industry. Each inductee is a trailblazer in their chosen field and is passionately dedicated to continuing the California Homebuilding Foundation’s mission of forging a bright future for the building workforce of the next generation.
This year’s inductees have respectively dedicated their careers to creating solutions for the state’s housing needs in areas such as innovative placemaking, workforce and affordable housing, architectural design and land planning, and economic development.
The 2022 inductees are Lucy Dunn (Orange County Business Council), Emile Haddad (FivePoint Holdings, LLC), Nancy Keenan (DAHLIN Group Architecture | Planning), Linda Mandolini (Eden Housing) and John W. Norman (Brookfield Properties Development).
The five individuals will be inducted during the California Homebuilding Foundation’s 37th annual Hall of Fame gala on June 21, 2022, in San Francisco. This year’s gala will celebrate the lifetime achievements of these five remarkable professionals with an in-person formal induction ceremony and video presentation. California Homebuilding Foundation 2022 Hall of Fame Inductees
Lucy Dunn: As immediate Past President and CEO of Orange County Business Council, Lucy Dunn led for 16 years a dynamic organization of business members, working with academia and government, to ensure the region’s economic prosperity and high quality of life. OCBC’s key initiatives include increasing the supply of workforce housing, education for a 21st century economy, and enhancing investments in infrastructure. Before joining OCBC, she expedited funding to create over 72,000 units of housing and shelter as Director of the California Department of Housing and Community Development under Governor Schwarzenegger, who also appointed her to the California Transportation Commission in 2008. Governor Jerry Brown reappointed her two more terms. Dunn was the first woman president of BIASC in its 80-year history, first woman officer of CBIA, and served as chair of the Building Industry Legal Defense Fund.
Emile Haddad: Emile Haddad is Founder and Chairman Emeritus of FivePoint Holdings, LLC (NYSE: FPH). FivePoint, headquartered in Irvine, California, designs and develops large mixed-use communities in Orange County, Los Angeles County and San Francisco County that combine residential, commercial, retail, educational and recreational elements with public amenities, including civic areas for parks and open space. FivePoint’s communities include the Great Park Neighborhoods® in Irvine, Valencia® (formerly known as Newhall Ranch®) in Los Angeles County, and Candlestick® and The San Francisco Shipyard® in the City of San Francisco. Haddad has long been active in the development and homebuilding industries and as a result was named to Gov. Newsom’s statewide Task Force on Business and Jobs Recovery during the Covid-19 induced economic crisis. Also, Haddad is Chair Emeritus of the prestigious USC Lusk School for Real Estate leading several key initiatives to create more housing for all income levels in California.
Haddad most recently served as Chairman and CEO of FivePoint. Prior to founding FivePoint, he was the Chief Investment Officer of Lennar Corporation, one of the nation's leading homebuilders, where he led the company's real estate investments and asset management. Haddad was a founding member of Lennar in California and was instrumental in its growth.
Nancy Keenan: As President and CEO of DAHLIN, Nancy Keenan leads the strategic and executive direction for the diverse architecture and planning firm, practicing globally. She is committed to connecting DAHLIN’s multi-office teams, strategic partners, and its clients. She is guiding the leadership transition of the diverse firm as an employee-owned company — increasing transparency in business operations with an emphasis on continuous professional development. Providing a platform for thought leadership, education and giving back, DAHLIN is a preferred employer, a connected member of its communities and a trusted advisor to its clients. Keenan is a licensed architect who serves as Chairperson of the Board for HomeAid’s Northern California chapter and is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Building Industry Association of the Bay Area (BIABA), and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB).
Linda Mandolini: Linda Mandolini has served as the President & CEO of Eden Housing since 2001. Eden Housing is one of California's oldest and most successful nonprofit housing developers and owners. She oversees affordable housing production, resident support services, and property management components of the organization, and a staff of more than 400 employees. She is guided in her work by Eden's active volunteer board of directors, and together they just completed an ambitious five-year strategic plan to build or preserve 10,000 affordable homes in California over the next 10 years. Under Mandolini’s leadership, Eden Housing has become one of the most productive and successful nonprofit affordable housing developers and owners in California and is nationally recognized for its work. To date, Eden has developed or acquired approximately 11,000 affordable rental apartments in communities throughout California, providing homes for more than 22,000 low-income residents from all cultures and backgrounds. Eden currently has an additional 4,000 units in its pipeline.
John W. Norman: John Norman is the Vice President of Brookfield Properties Development, Sacramento. He joined the Brookfield San Diego team in 2001 and has led the Sacramento regional office since 2004, where he is responsible for land entitlement and development in the six-county Sacramento region. Norman has 42 years of combined consulting and homebuilding experience in implementing master-planned communities, infill, and mid-rise mixed-use projects. He has served as Chair of the North State Building Industry Association (NSBIA), HomeAid Sacramento Board Member, Roseville Community Development Corporation Secretary/Treasurer and Placer County SPCA Board Member. Norman has engaged in several leadership positions for the California Building Industry Association (CBIA). He currently serves as Chair of the Board, CBIA PAC Board Member, and previously served as the Chair of the Government Affairs Committee.
