ASE “Guardians of the Sea” Wins Gold at the PwC Sustainability Impact Awards

Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, Inc. (ASE, a member of ASE Technology Holding Inc, NYSE: ASX, TWSE: 3711) today announced it has been honored with a prestigious Gold Award at the 2024 PwC Sustainability Impact Awards for its marine conservation film, Guardians of the Sea. Produced by ASE Corporate Communications Team in collaboration with ASE Environmental Protection and Sustainability Foundation, the film highlights ASE’s innovative approach to marine conservation and environmental stewardship, captivating global judges with its creative and compelling portrayal of the company’s sustainability initiatives and social impact.

Established in 2017, the PwC Sustainability Impact Awards serves as a benchmark for sustainable innovation in Taiwan. Drawing inspiration from the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, the awards celebrate storytelling that drives impact. Participants are encouraged to align their sustainability projects with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and address pressing social issues through engaging two-minute video narratives.

ASE Guardians of the Sea focuses on restoring and protecting marine ecosystems by partnering with dive shops across Taiwan to mobilize professional divers for ocean cleanups. Since its launch in 2021, ASE has trained over 150 divers and organized more than 140 cleanups involving over 1,700 participants. The company has developed various educational programs, offering comprehensive ecological conservation training to both employees and the general public. This initiative has led to restorations of 540 coral colonies and the cleaning of 270 coral reefs, helping to revitalize damaged marine habitats.

Guardians of the Sea is an impactful and innovative film in communicating ASE’s commitment to the UN SDGs --- SDG 14 (Life Below Water) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Looking ahead, the company plans to expand the program, enhance marine conservation technologies, and strengthen education efforts to advance the protection of the marine environment, ensuring that we will have cleaner beaches and healthier oceans for the community.
