This special upcoming event will feature door prizes, health information stemming from Dr. Smith’s work, live music, food, and more

An upcoming reception fundraiser to honor the life and legacy of Greenville, South Carolina, physician Dr. Desmond E. Smith will be held on February 17, 2024, at the Hilton Garden Inn (108 Carolina Point Pkwy, Greenville, SC 20607), from 12pm-3pm.

Dr. Smith was a prominent community figure and founder of the non-profit SC Association for Preventative Medical Care Inc. He hosted numerous health and athletic clinics across South Carolina to promote healthy living, including preventative screenings.

After his death, Dr. Smith’s wife, Anita Boggs, launched the non-profit Dr. DES Preventative Healthcare Association Inc. as a way to keep his work alive. The non-profit provides tailored, one-on-one education on diet, exercise, and lifestyle with a mission of preventing, slowing, and even reversing chronic disease and inflammation in people living in underserved communities. An initial assessment and consultation is used as a way to gather information from the client and then create tailored strategies for success. RN health coaches provide functional medical testing to check for food, vitamin, and toxin sensitivities, as well as to identify gut health status.  Dr. DES Preventative Healthcare Association Inc. recently launched two new initiatives, a cellular detoxification program and the Let’s Reboot online course mobile app. Stay tuned for more information on the upcoming Tranquility Resort Project.

On February 17, 2024, Dr. Smith’s family and friends invite the community to come celebrate his life and legacy. Aside from being a local physician committed to making a difference, he was the only three-time Brooklyn Tech High School Hall of Famer in the school’s history. He was inducted in 2021 for the 1969 championship team; was a 2022 individual inductee; and was inducted once again in 2023 as part of the 1967 championship team.

The celebration will include live performances by saxaphonist Ray Grove Mapp of The Hypnotic Band, transformational health information, food, fun, and door prizes. Tickets are $35 until February 3, 2024. All ticket purchases are tax deductible, and proceeds will be used as part of the educational outreach initiatives at Dr. DES Preventative Healthcare Association Inc.
