Dr. Mark Hickman Offers His Expertise to Reverse a Vasectomy at All-Inclusive Costs

Dr. Mark Hickman, MD, FACS, a highly skilled microsurgeon in New Braunfels, TX, is applying his expertise to provide an all-inclusive affordable cost to reverse a vasectomy. He is both skilled and experience in reversing a vasectomy since he has already done thousands of successful vasectomy reversals during his more than 26 years of helping men regain their ability to father a child. Dr. Hickman has two all-inclusive options. One is priced at $3,300, which includes local anesthesia and oral sedatives. The other option is priced at $4,200 and includes IV sedation to be provided by a board-certified anesthesiologist.

Dr. Hickman says, “As a child, I had a calling to become a physician and it is a goal I have pursued with laser focus to be the absolute best. After my acceptance to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX I received my medical degree at the tender age of 23. As an expert in laparoscopic procedures, I began to teach minimally invasive techniques to other surgeons. Subsequently, I also invented several surgical instruments and have been awarded a US patent and recognized as a contributor on several other important minimally invasive patents.”

He is also on a mission to discourage men from undergoing vasectomy because the Catholic Church frowns upon artificial methods of birth control. He often tells stories of vasectomized men regretting their decision to undergo the procedure. Naturally, he also encourages them to get a vasectomy reversal, especially since some vasectomized men have experienced the onset of male depression, having realized that they are no longer virile and have the feeling that something is missing.

With regards to the vasectomy reversal surgery procedure, Dr. Hickman will perform a microsurgical repair of the vas using fine nylon suture that is much finer than human hair with the help of a powerful operating microscope. To optimize the chances of success, he will carefully align the lumen of the two ends of the vas deferens and make sure a watertight closure is achieved.

After making a small incision on each side of the scrotal skin, Dr. Hickman will look for the two ends of the vas deferens and free them from the surrounding scar tissue. He will then take a sample of the fluid from the testicular end of the vas and examine this under a lab microscope. Even after the vasectomy, the testicle should continue to produce sperm. Thus, there are three possibilities when examining the sample fluid. The first one, which is the best possible situation, is that whole sperm can be found in the fluid. The second situation, which is the most common, is that the fluid is thin and contains no whole sperm but only sperm parts.

The third possibility is the fluid is thick and pasty and contains no sperm at all. This is indicative of an epididymal blowout, which means there is a rupture in the vas in the epididymis. This means Dr. Hickman, will have to perform a vasoepididymostomy in addition the vasovasostomy but the patient need not worry about any additional costs because the price quoted is all-inclusive. No additional cost will be charged even if both repairs have to be performed.

Founded in 1988, Dr. Mark Hickman’s New Braunfels medical clinic is where he performs vasectomy reversals using expert microsurgical and minimally invasive techniques. He completed his general surgery residency training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and it was during this time life that he came to know about the microsurgery methods that were then being used in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. He quickly realized how minimally invasive microsurgery would provide substantial benefits for his patients, such as a much faster recovery time. Ever since, he has been applying microsurgery techniques to perform vasectomy reversals.
