IGL Nails Founder Brittany Golden Graduates from Goldman Sachs’ One Million Black Women in Business

Golden also won a $5,000 Goldman Sachs grant as part of pitch competition

(PRUnderground) August 15th, 2022

Brittany Golden, founder of IGL Nails, recently graduated from the first cohort of Goldman Sachs’ One Million Black Women in Business, and she won a $5,000 Goldman Sachs grant as part of a pitch contest.

Golden’s journey began when she decided to pursue her dreams in nail art after many compliments on her own designs. She left a job in corporate America and launched IGL Nails, which has grown exponentially.

Golden applied to the Goldman Sach’s One Million Black Women: Black in Business program, which was designed to empower Black female entrepreneurs with coaching in areas such as finance, hiring, pricing services and products, and more. The 12-week program is provided at no cost to those who are accepted.

Golden was accepted to be among the inaugural cohort. The in-person training was held at the Goldman Sachs headquarters in New York City. Not only did Golden successfully graduate from the program, but she also won first place in a pitch contest for a $5,000 grant from Goldman Sachs.

This program comes at a time when Black women business ownership is on the rise. According to the Harvard Business Review, 17% Black women were starting or running new business. Surprisingly, however, only 3% of Black women were running long-standing, mature businesses. This underscored the need for a program such as the one from Goldman Sachs, which has pledged to help one million Black women build successful businesses.

Golden was honored to accept the grant and plans to use the money into scaling her business, including new hires, expansion, and marketing. The business skills she gained during the program will allow her to continue the expansion of IGL Nails with confidence. Golden is working on creating a billion dollar brand.

IGL Nails offers an exceptional quality in long-lasting adhesive nails available in many designs. The company has exploded in growth, and IGL Nails can be purchased online or in one of its 15 retail locations. Golden has also worked with brands such as Nike and Air Jordan, creating custom designs for special events. Golden was featured in a KTLA 5 segment for winning the grant, and there she shared her passion for being a champion for Black women. When asked what Black women should do if they want to start a business, Golden said, “Just start. You can do it.”
