African-American Chamber of Commerce San Antonio Celebrates National Black Business Month

By: PRLog

Join the AACCSA in supporting Black-owned businesses to promote greater economic freedom for the Black community here in San Antonio!

SAN ANTONIO - Aug. 4, 2021 - PRLog -- "The African-American Chamber of Commerce San Antonio (AACCSA) is proud to celebrate National Black Business Month. Black Business Month is held every year during the month of August and this year the AACCSA is excited to announce a series of events, initiatives and grant opportunities to black-owned small businesses in San Antonio.

Events include the award of micro-grants to small Black-owned businesses, in-person networking events, virtual webinars, an African American Business Luncheon with African American Organizations and/or leaders and highlight Black-Owned businesses and organizations via the AACCSA website, social media, and webinars.

"I am very excited to galvanize our community to support Black-owned businesses during National Black Business Month," says Xavier Toson, Chairman, AACCSA. "This is a great opportunity to showcase black excellence and highlight Black-owned businesses doing great in San Antonio."

In 2004, Historian John William Templeton and Frederick E. Jordan Sr. founded Black Business Month to drive the policy agenda affecting the then 2.6 million black-owned businesses in the country. Black-owned businesses account for 9.4% of all firms and women are at the heart of the growth of Black-owned businesses representing 10% of all minority owned businesses.

"The work that the AACCSA does – day in and day out – on behalf of Black-owned businesses deserves your support," says Charles O'Neal, President, Texas Association of African American Chambers of Commerce. "The heightened focus of Black Business Month underscores the critical role the chamber and the businesses it supports plays in the greater San Antonio marketplace."

Today, AACCSA continues in this mission by using its collective strength here in South Central Texas to elevate, educate and strengthen black businesses in our community. AACCSA believes that African American-led organizations (or those that support the African American community intentionally) are a part of this collective strength. Area organizations are encouraged to partner with AACCSA to bridge any gaps, show collective strength, support for black businesses, and the community we all represent.

"We have been in business for over 15 years and we have seen support from the community grow year over year." says Mark Outing, owner of Mark's Outing. "But since the pandemic, I have noticed Black-owned businesses including mine have begun to collaborate with each other to create a more close-knit support network for each other."

Businesses and individuals seeking to support Black businesses this month are encouraged to shop local, use black directories, partner with a neighboring black business, make space for black businesses and use hashtags like #NationalBlackBusinessMonth, #ShopBlackOwned, #Blackmakers, #Blackowned, #SupportBlackBusiness to find businesses to support.

Members of the media are invited to join AACCSA at a Press conference scheduled for Friday August 6, 2021 at 10 am at Mark's Outing Restaurant, 1624 E Commerce St, San Antonio, TX 78205. Xavier Toson, Chairman for the AACCSA, flanked by board members and Black business owners will address members of the media and announce the launch of Black Business Month in San Antonio. https://youtu.be/5CN8ukr_pLU
