Chinese-American Artist Releases Her Body of Fine Art Spanning Five-Decades

PRINCEVILLE, Hawaii - Sept. 2, 2021 - PRLog -- Dorothy Yung (Rong Zhian), a highly accomplished Chinese American artist, announces the launch of her new website, THE ART of DOROTHY YUNG (dorothyyung.com), showcasing her lifelong passion and her career in fine art. The new website features Yung's autobiographical method of painting she refers to as 'Spiritual Dimensionalism,' and showcases her previously unseen oil on canvas and vivid watercolor paintings.

Artist Statement - Chinese poetry and Western expressionism merge on the surfaces of Yung's canvases, not as separates or opposites, but as a unified whole. Her narrative style references Chinese calligraphy, feminine figures, movement, and vibrant energy through poetic, gestural, painterly applications. Her work tells stories of compassion, the healing nature of love, and the strength of women throughout history to uphold humanity's most vital attributes. Through her female abstract expressionist artist paintings, the spirit world dances like whispers from another dimension, reminding us here on earth that there is much more to life than the physical world.

Her spiritual and divine feminine figures, bold and colorful brush strokes contextualizes her work within modernists and contemporaries in both the East and the West.

"Dorothy Yung's art makes a swift, definite and strong impression. It illustrates the ironic axiom: egoless people have strong characters." ~ William Zimmer, Contributing Art Critic, The New York Times

Dorothy's Unique Approach - Each creation follows Dorothy's unique and rare methodology. Before her paintbrush ever meets her canvas, Dorothy always takes time to pray, meditate, and connect with the divine. The feelings, images, and colors then come to and through her, with great clarity and intention. With this process of divine inspiration, she eagerly approaches each canvas with anticipation and passion. With a sense of purpose and mastery, her bold brush strokes accentuate brilliant, vibrant and bold compositions that give her pieces a touch of the mystical, the sacred, the mysterious. "Each of my paintings is an invitation to participate in something more profound than the physical world and more meaningful than strokes of color on canvas," says Dorothy.

About The Artist –Dorothy Yung, also known as 'Rong Zhian' in Wuxi, China where she was born, was already painting at the young age of six. She was raised within the prominent and benevolent Rong family, exposing her at an early age to humanitarian efforts, cultural enrichment, and international relations. After moving to the U.S., she continued to study art at Garland Jr. College in Massachusetts. Influenced by the Impressionist and Cubist masters, Yung crafted her own personal artistic style she later called 'Spiritual Dimensionalism'. Dorothy Yung is a product of two worlds coalescing: a rich Chinese heritage that dates back to China's pre-industrial revolution, mingled with the postmodern trends of her adopted American culture. Dorothy's fine art serves as a bridge to connect both cultures and people. When viewed closely, her paintings reveal multiple dimensions with a graceful array of spirits that re-tell stories with ancient Chinese poetry, making them more relevant today than perhaps they've ever been.

The art of Dorothy Yung has been exhibited throughout the world including the Marlborough Gallery in London, the Hong Kong Cultural Center, AT&T Headquarters, and is currently featured at the Wuxi Museum in Wuxi, China.
