Music Beats Cancer Announces Challenge Winners

Music Beats Cancer Announces Challenge WinnersDr. Mona Jhaveri, Founder of Music Beats Cancer

Today, Music Beats Cancer, the 501(c)3 nonprofit that raises funds for cancer-fighting solutions, announced the winners of its latest Challenge, an exclusive fundraising contest for independent musicians.

Music Beats Cancer’s Challenge raised $21,529 total. This money will be used to finance biotech innovators who lack the requisite funds to continue researching badly needed solutions for cancer. At the same time, the Challenge offered emerging artists a unique opportunity to align their voice with a worthy cause and reach a broader audience.

Only 48 independent artists from around the world were chosen to participate in the Challenge out of more than 2,000 hopeful entrants. In addition to the United States, contestants hailed from Malaysia, Canada, Australia, Ghana, Japan, and Italy.

The top five artists who raised the most money will be featured on a 60-second spot on WIOQ-Q102, Philadelphia’s #1 Hit Music and iHeart Radio Station, which has a weekly reach of 1,174,200 listeners. Snippets of the winners’ chosen song and a voice recording of what inspired them to join the challenge will be broadcast. These radio spots will air multiple times each weekend in October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

"Musicians are at the forefront of our culture,” says Dr. Mona Jhaveri, founder of Music Beats Cancer. “The Music Beats Cancer Challenge elevates their voices to raise awareness and funds in support of the fight against cancer.”
