Active Shooter Survival/Life-Saving Steps – Online Preparation Training Updated

A.L.I.V.E. Active Shooter Survival Training Program has updated its online training to help individuals recognize potential violent events before they happen and then take the survival steps that can save their lives.

With the goal of providing lifesaving knowledge to individuals before they face a violent incident, this training program has updated its online sessions to meet the needs of people who cannot take an in-person survival training course.

No one can accurately predict when they will face an active shooter event, but clients can now take this online training in the privacy of their own homes to learn how to be prepared to survive a violent incident.

An active shooter is often defined as an individual who sets out to kill many people in a populated area. A mass shooting incident is usually described as an event in which four or more people, including the shooter, are shot. In 2021, the United States had 693 mass shootings, leaving 703 people dead and 2,842 injured.

Since active shooter events are often over quickly before law enforcement arrives, individuals must be prepared both mentally and physically to deal with the situation. This online training program can dramatically increase a person’s ability to survive such an event.

On the program’s website, founder Michael Julian explains that once the shooting starts, most people waste time trying to figure out what to do, losing precious seconds that could mean the difference between surviving and becoming a victim. He says that others freeze and do nothing, making themselves easy targets for the perpetrator.

The way individuals can avoid becoming victims is to prepare themselves with training that can help them assess the situation quickly and determine the best course of action.

Julian has been working in security since he began working for his father’s investigations company when he was 16. His formal training includes behavioral threat assessment, active shooter survival, self-defense, covert protection, and more.

He created A.L.I.V.E., which means assess, leave, impede, violence, and expose, in 2014 as part of teaching his survival philosophy throughout the U.S. and published his book “10 Minutes to Live: Surviving an Active Shooter Using A.L.I.V.E.” in 2017.

A satisfied student wrote, “Before taking this training and reading the book, I thought I would be the one to ‘freeze’ or ‘freak out.’ Now, I believe I am better prepared and can be effective for my group. Thank you!”
