How To Get An Oregon Medical Marijuana Program Card

By: PRLog

EUGENE, Ore. - March 30, 2022 - PRLog -- Under Oregon's medical marijuana laws, people with doctor-recommended medical marijuana use can apply for a medical marijuana card. The first step in obtaining an Oregon Medical Marijuana Program (OMMP) Card is to have it evaluated and certified by a licensed medical marijuana physician.

If interested in applying for a medical marijuana card, you will need to go through the Oregon Department of Health's application process. But, before this point, you must have a qualifying condition.

In determining this, a state-certified physician must state in writing that the patient has a qualifying medical condition. Additionally, they must note that medical marijuana can mitigate the symptoms or effects of that condition. Those with a qualifying medical condition who hold a referral for medical marijuana from their treating physician can then apply for a medical marijuana card.

Medical record requirements for new patients seeking an OMMP license should know that it is helpful to have medical records from your previous providers. Your records should document all the conditions that will make you eligible for an OMMP license on your application and appointment.

As previously mentioned, to be eligible for the OMMP program, you must have a debilitating medical condition known to a licensed physician in Oregon. You must also have an established patient/medical relationship with the physician. All you need to do is be examined by a doctor to determine if you meet the medical criteria. Once you have determined that you qualify, the next step is to find a licensed doctor who can recommend marijuana for medical use.

Once all steps are completed, you should wait until you receive your card in the mail before trying to buy marijuana from a medical dispensary. Once the state medical cannabis program mails your physical card, you may begin purchasing medical marijuana in Oregon.
