Tickets are available for the Shining Through Service Gala held on Saturday, November 5 at the Renaissance Hotel at LAX. Proceeds will fight homelessness. Evening includes VIP reception, dinner, dancing to DJ BluBoi, a show by Grammy-nominated performer MAJOR. and live and silent auctions.

Southern Californians interested in fighting homelessness are encouraged to attend the Shining Through Service Gala, a fundraiser in which all profits are used to house these vulnerable citizens and train them for jobs in the food service, landscape maintenance, screen printing and customer service fields. The black-tie event will be held on Saturday, November 5 at the Renaissance Hotel at LAX and is expected to attract celebrities and other distinguished guests who will take to the red carpet at 6 pm and attend a VIP reception followed by dinner, dancing to the grooves of DJ BluBoi, a performance by Grammy Award nominee MAJOR. and live and silent auctions.

In addition, community members who have been instrumental in alleviating LA’s ever-burgeoning homeless problem will be honored including LA County Supervisor Janice Hahn and 15-year-old activist and philanthropist Khole Thompson, who has been packaging and distributing thousands of hygiene “Kare” bags to the region’s homeless since she was 8 years old.

Tickets to the event are $100 ($150 for VIP) each; corporate packages ranging from table sponsors at $1,500 to the $10,000 platinum level are still available. All corporate sponsors will receive 8 tickets to the gala and a number of other VIP amenities. In addition, a lifelong seat on the Holliday’s Helping Hands founding 50 is available for $25,000. “We are delighted to announce our inaugural Shining Through Service Gala, which we hope will raise both much-needed funds and public awareness of LA’s homeless crisis,” says Miss Katina Holliday, founder and CEO of Holliday’s Helping Hands (HHH) and its affiliated nonprofit Foundation. “Our other goal is to give the community a glimpse of what organizations like Holliday’s Helping Hands are doing to eradicate the problem by putting a roof over their heads and helping transition them so they can enjoy living more productive lives.”

The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, which tracks the problem for most of the county, found that the region’s homeless population grew by 4.1% from 66,436 in 2020 to 69,144 in 2022. The percentage of those individuals living indoors in shelters increased from 28% to 30%.

Miss Holliday, a registered family nurse practitioner by training, started HHH in 2018 to provide interim housing for LA’s homeless population. She also started the Shine Ambassador Program, a three-month training to help these vulnerable individuals prepare for jobs in their local communities.

“In cities big and small all over the U.S., the problem of homelessness is spreading like wildfire. Tents are being erected under freeways, on sidewalks, in parks and even now in residential neighborhoods and there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight,” says Miss Holliday. “People are seeing the problem, but many are not recognizing that great strides are being made every day to reverse this disturbing trend. I’m proud to say that Holliday’s Helping Hands is part of the solution and we’re hoping that the public will show their support by attending our Shining Through Service Gala.”
