This service is designed for adventurous and creative young girls who have an interest in STEM, nature, or arts and crafts. The October update added several box options, with the “Jewelry Crate” being featured. The crate includes custom beading and craft projects with friendship bracelet weaving supplies and instructions.

GirlCratery has been designed as an affordable alternative to other “loot crate” options in order to provide hours of mentally stimulating fun for girls of all ages. Each crate from the new service is worth a minimum of $50 in value, with craft supplies, STEM-focused toys, games, activities, and more included in the subscription.

This new service is inspired by the Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways. The founders of GirlCratery hope that by creating this service they can bring the fun and adventure offered by GSNYPENN to girls who might not otherwise get to participate.

The month of October featured a wide variety of different crates on rotating selection, with options like the “Fairy Crate” and “Roadtrip Crate” all available. The featured “Jewelry Crate” contains a plethora of supplies that girls can use to create their own colorful beaded and woven jewelry, including charm bracelet supplies and a metal stamping kit to create customized pendants.

Each crate, aside from being a self-contained activity box intended to inspire hours of constructive fun, is also intended to help girls earn activity badges. Girl Scout members will find that many boxes, such as the Geocaching crate, can be used to complete many-if-not-all requirements for the corresponding badge.

One reviewer said, “We loved the creativity that was sparked by the crate that arrived on our doorstep. My daughter used it as a jumping-off point for many different projects. You can totally tell that this was designed with little girls in mind.”

GirlCratery is a constantly evolving service, and they take feedback and suggestions from their customers young and old. Since the service is designed specifically to help little girls discover and explore their interests, they are encouraging the crate recipients to discuss their experiences with the service and what they would like to see more of so that GirlCratery can be improved in the future.
