New Releases From Woman-Owned Streaming Platform Announced

By: PRLog

New releases on The Studio Club, the first ever fully woman-owned membership streaming platform from Seasons & a Muse Studios, announced in historic times

LOS ANGELES - July 18, 2023 - PRLog -- Amid strikes by the Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, or AMPTP, artist-made projects and platforms are leading the way. Oscar nominee Mark Ruffalo of "The Kids Are All Right" recently urged fellow thespians to embrace independent films.

Launched last November at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, and constructed and designed with the Golden Age of Hollywood in mind, The Studio Club membership-based streaming platform from Seasons & a Muse Studios broke new ground. In support of union efforts, The Studio Club is among the forerunners, with new projects created and distributed independently of the AMPTP.

The latest releases on The Studio Club include a teaser for "Making Angels," a dramedy feature project from Seasons & a Muse Studios, or SAAM, currently in development. Shot at the landmark Wilshire Ebell Theatre, the teaser is non-scripted and exclusive to the platform. Also, the director's cut of "Night Rain," narrative feature thriller of a group of independent filmmakers hired by their stalker to make a low-budget period movie about Elizabeth Short, victim of Black Dahlia murder, comes to the platform on July 29, Short's birthday. Check out the member-based platform at https://www.seasonsandamusestudios.com/the-studio-club.

The Studio Club harkens the famed Hollywood Studio Club. Branded a safe haven for women living in Tinseltown, the Hollywood Studio Club was a one-time home to Marilyn Monroe and other female contract players. The Studio Club from SAAM aims to live up to its name.

SAAM was devised by artist, filmmaker and businesswoman Spicuzza and created with Leonardo Veneziano of Sunken Realm Design Company. It is the distribution arm of the Seasons & a Muse entertainment franchise, also comprised of finance company Seasons & a Muse, Inc. and production company Seasons & a Muse Productions, LLC.

Spicuzza says that she recognized the need to continue the history and tradition of women as an essential part of cinema and moviemaking. SAAM Studios is the first in-person and virtual, fully woman-owned and -run studio in Hollywood, which first launched in 2021.

"We need to return to the days when executives cared and contributed to culture and thousands of artisans and craftspeople were gainfully employed," says Spicuzza.

The Studio Club features an exclusive, on demand release of "Night Rain," plus "Dark Redemption," a behind-the-scenes, making-of featurette, and a Q&A of celebrated Black Dahlia panel experts like L.A. Times writer-editor Larry Harnisch, Mary Pacios, author and friend of Elizabeth Short and filmmaker and New York Times' bestselling author of The Disaster Artist, Greg Sestero. A commentary version of "The Scarapist," "Making Angels: Screen Test" with Jeanne Marie Spicuzza, Michelle Kantor and Tommy Wiseau, along with other SAAM acquisitions, like "Celebrity Guerilla" by Norway-based filmmaker Leo X. Robertson, are available, as SAAM continues to curate its content.

"The best that most independent filmmakers can hope for under current distribution models is to break even. Eighty-five percent of female filmmakers don't get to their second feature. I've listened to distributors cackle and brag about paying filmmakers 'pennies on the dollar,' as if carelessly imitating the villains of the Mack Sennett days," Spicuzza says. "Filmmakers deserve better."

The SAAM Souvenir Shop recently added the latest publication from Libri Publishers, Hope is My Favorite Color, written and illustrated by Spicuzza, A Little Red Schoolhouse, much like MGM's educational facility that housed Linda Darnell, Elizabeth Taylor, Mickey Rooney and other stars of old, is in the works.
